Invited again....and Briana gets called for City Hall!!

Remember that lovely charcoal sketch that Briana did a few months ago in BEGINNING art class???


Wellllll...........she decided to enter it, and the Marilyn Monroe sketch, into the Big Fresno Fair's fine art contest. With the drape sketch, she won 3rd in the "Advanced Art, Mixed Media" catagory!! YEA!! The fair opened today, and goes until October 13th.



Wanna hear some even COOLER news?!?!?!




She got a call tonight (actually, they had to leave a message on her phone because we were at church...), but she was asked if she would allow the sketch to be hung inside Fresno City Hall!!! There will be a reception on November 6th, with dinner and the whole she-bang! Too cool! I'm sure she will be meeting our Mayor, Alan Autry ("Bubba").





VERY cool for Briana!! She's already had it hung at Fresno City College....then published.....now this!! I'm BEAMING proud of her!!!

Well, a few of you know that I had been invited to Quincy Jones' home...and didn't go. I hung with my cousin (and my daughters) a little over a week ago, and we all had a BLAST!! Besides driving my cousins new Bentley Continental GT (which I will need to do more of..), we all just had way too much fun! Welllll.....I got a note from her this evening, and she is wanting me to come down and she'll take me over to his home. I'm thinking I'm gonna take her up on her offer this time. To be invited ONCE and miss it is bad enough. But....to miss an opportunity like that TWICE....would just be flat out stupid! Sssoooooooo......for those of you who are interested, I will DEFINATELY take my camera, and get some pics of me and "Q" while I am there! I am not one to get star-struck at ALL....but, this is pretty damned cool, if may say so myself!

Anyways.....I'm gonna be a couch potato tonght.

Play a little on the computer....read some of the book that I am on....then try and crash. I have been sleeping a BUNCH the last two days, which usually means I am trying not to get sick. So, sleep I shall!




Lemme know whatcha think about the whole "going to Quicy's" field trip. I know that YOU'RE excited Kohl..... (chuckle)

OK, OK, OK.....!!!!

It's been WAAAAAAY too long since I blogged....and I have SSOOO much to share with you about my past weekend!!

I am running CRAZY around here, and trying to find time to upload all of my pics and videos of my weekend. Well.....not quite ALL of the pics.... :)

Anyways....I wanna go through step by step the AMAZING amount of fun that the girls and I and my cousins had this past weekend. We partied like rock stars and had the time of our lives at my cousins Malibu beach house. If any of you have access to my YouTube account, I will be posting some videos there (once downloaded). They will post there first, before and IF they make it to my blog.

Anyways....I am running around today. Taking my Denali in for an oil change ('cause I take good care of my baby...), then taking my girlfriend out to lunch (her dad just died), then picking up Lys....then two of my girlfriends kids....then Dayna....finding time to run to the grocery store.....and then start dinner so that it can be ready when Dean gets home. I gotta feed 7 of us tonight, so, I gotta hustle around.

HOPEFULLY, before I start massive problem paperwork for Dean tonight, I can download everything and get SOMETHING up for you all to read! I see that you've been popping in fairly regularly....so, I'm glad to hear that you haven't given up on me COMPLETELY yet!!

Life's lessons for my little Alyssa...

Well, my darling Alyssa went in to take her very first written test for her driver's permit. We got to DMV, got up to the counter, only to find out that she had to be ENROLLED in Driver's Training before she could even take the test. (She's VERY independent, and has done all of this...including online classes...on her own. VERY organized...) Anyways, we left there with tears welled up in her eyes that she was trying to hold back. I told her, "No problem, we will drive 2 blocks down, where Briana took HER Driver's Training, sign you up, get the papers, and gome right back and take your test". Which we did.

We got back to DMV, got her number called, and when we got up to the window, on her paperwork, she had forgotten to get her SSN. Well, Dean and MY social security numbers are the only ones I have memorized, so, I made a few calls, got lucky, and found someone at Dean's work that had Alyssa's SSN.

Ready for testing. She takes her picture, gives her thumbprint, and off to the testing area she goes with her 48 questions.

I see her turning around and heading for the corrections area, so I quickly go over and join her. As the lady is correcting her test, Alyssa announces how nervous she is, and the lady asks her what she does when she doesn't pass a test at school. (Obviously, she doesn't know my Lys!) Alyssa replies with, "I don't fail tests." So, the lady asks her what would she do if she had? Alyssa draws a blank. (lol) The lady prompts her that she would go back and study some more and retake the test again. As she recounts how many Alyssa missed, she tells us that she missed passing by ONE question. I felt so badly for her. So much had gone on right before we headed down there...

Well, she had a positive attitude. She said that she gets to babysit her favorite kids tonight AND make money, and asked me for an ice cream from Rite-Aid (Thrifty)...which I was more than happy to oblige.

Two weeks, and she can go back again.

I know she will pass with flying colors.

I...LOVE..........Dot!!

After the events of today, I needed something to make me laugh.

Murphy's Law and my afternoon.....

Reader's Digest Condensed version:

2:30pm today, I went to take my youngest to a birthday party....was going down the
first flight of stairs in our house......stepped off at the
bottom.....completely missing the last TWO steps. My left ankle turned in
and up, and it landed topside of the foot to the floor (aggregate), and all
of my weight landed on top of it. Laid there in excruciating pain, while my
daughter was trying to call for help. About 15 mintues later my friend took
me to Urgent Care. After many x-rays and 1000mg of Vicodin, they determined
that I had a stage 2 foot injury.....meaning...........I tore (halfway down)
at least one ligament that runs from the outside of my ankle to the top of
my foot. Pain is so bad that I need to vomit. So....I am on 1000mg of
Vicodin every 4-6 hours (which makes me naseous)........

I am bedridden. No walking on it for a week. Recuperation time will be 4-6
weeks is what the doctor is specualting.

Hurts like a mother f*r.......


Burns so badly......feels numb and ICE COLD......is starting to turn
dark.......


I can't believe my luck.



Murphy and his goddamed law need to move out of my life...........
